Maisemund panos
A towering figure in homeopathy has passed on into the company of other immortals of homeopathy. While not renowned for prescribing acumen or materia medica discovery as these other immortals, Maisie Panos does deserve her place in the Pantheon for the remarkable influence she has had on modern homeopathy in this country. She spearheaded the important drive to make the NCH the member-responsive organization it is today; she (along with her amazing husband, John Holtvoigt) unstintingly gave of her time and money to preserve homeopathy during its nadir in the US and further its resurrection during the 80's. Her political skills and savy are now legendary and were put to selfless use. She and John were critically instrumental in furthering the education of young professional homeopaths, myself included. (I especially owe them a debt of thanks for their assistance during my log legal battle in North Carolina; they were instrumental in recruiting the ACLU to our cause).
She achieved all of the above in her own inimitable style-humble, witty, mischievous, open-hearted, proper. She resembled a lovable "school marm" -a quiet yet commanding presence, subtly and skillfully motivating others to reach beyond themselves in pursuit of a higher goal-homeopathic excellence and steward-ship. So many lives were touched by her, so many influenced for the better.
Her like will not be seen again.
Her presence will be forever missed, her memory forever cherished. Thanks, Maisie.
