It is fairly common skin rash that thought to be triggered by autoimmune system. There may be several contributing factors and each case is different. Main causes includes viral infection, allergen or stress and genetics.It may be found with other diseases with altered immunity such as ulcerative colitis, alopecia areata, vitiligo, dermatophysotos, morphea, lichen sclerosis and myasthenia gravis.
