Tungstenium [Tung]:

- Jan Scholten

The mountaineer

Tungstenium is an unknown remedy. I did a dream proving at the SHO college, a report of which follows below. Chabbra (1995) has also done a proving.

Signature

The name is derived from the Swedish words tung (heavy) and sten (stone). It was discovered in 1783. It is sometimes called Wolfram, hence its chemical symbol W.

The wire is used in lightbulbs because of its high heat resistance. Tungsten has the highest melting point of all the elements, 3410 degrees C. It gets used in nuclear reactors for this same reason.

Protective shields and harnesses, as well as cutting and drilling instruments are made out of Tungsten because of its hardness.

Tungsten increases the elasticity and the cutting properties of steel.

Essence: Having to prove yourself as a leader.

Having to prove yourself as a leader

They have to make a start with the real leadership. It is the first time that they are taking the lead, it is as if they are being thrown into the deep end. Now they have to learn to trust in themselves. They have to lead a group, but they don't know how the group will react. Will they recognise him as their leader ? Or will they behave like a mob of uncontrollable rabble. Whatever happens, it wont stop them from taking on the challenge, to dare others to defy their position as leader.

Having to prove your power over a stronger force: fire It is a n enormous task they have taken on. It isn't like proving you can do some ordinary, every day things. It is something very special, something that is almost overwhelmingly difficult to conquer. Like having to do a firewalk for the first time. He knows he has to do it, but he doesn't know what it will be like and whether he will succeed. Like a baptism by fire. A similar situation is that of the mountain climber, who has to conquer one of the most difficult mountains with all the dangers that will entail. They may be terribly worried about the prospect, thinking they will never do it. The sheer enormity of the task can evoke fears in everyone.

Children who have seen a fire may be haunted by nightmares of their house catching fire. This fear is especially strong if you have been forced into the situation, where it wasn't your own choice. Here the fear can easily become overwhelming.

Having to face the challenge on your own

They like challenges and will look for situations where they can prove themselves. But they have to do it all alone, whether they like it or not. There is no superior or protector who will lend a hand, it is all up to them now. But they also feel that if they didn't do it on their own they still wouldn't have proved anything. These people are very keen on new situations and challenges and where there isn't one they will create it. They choose the most difficult studies or the most dangerous jobs.

They may become stuntman for a movie, they love the challenge.

And when something goes wrong they'll simply try again: I will do it! If you say to them I bet you wont dare to do that, they'll go for it immediately.

Proving they are responsible or others

These people are quite prepared to take on the responsibility.

They like situations where they may have to save other peoples lives, like firemen. Or they become mountaineers, anything where there is a challenge of life or death.

Unable to prove their power: failure

But besides the desire for a challenge there is also the fear of failure. They may have secret doubts whether they can succeed.

This makes them tackle their task with great care. They may look impulsive, but this is only when the immediate situation demands such action.

When they fail they feel it as a personal loss. Other peoples opinions are not that important to them.

Felling forced to take on the leadership, even if they don't know

how They often feel as if they have been forced to take on a certain task. They are up against it and there is no way out. Like being thrown in the lions den.

They may be quite bewildered to start with, wondering what is expected of them.

They can't get out of the situation and when there is some form of restriction added to their task they can get very angry. They can well do without any added difficulty. These people hate being restricted by things like illness, handicaps, lack of financial means etc. The task must be completed and they don't need any restrictions.

Hidden power: camouflage

Their uncertainty makes them a bit weary to show of their talents. They first have to prove whether they can be a good leader, whether they can really found that kingdom. Their power is hidden, new, unknown. In their situation it is a good idea to hide their strategies, to camouflage their power. Others don't have to see how they go about their task, it would only provoke unnecessary opposition or envy. They like to hide their power beneath an air of innocent cheerfulness. It will hide their uncertainty at the same time, there is no need for others to see that either. They might think that someone who is that uncertain can't possibly be fit to be a leader.

Hidden arrogance

They tend to be quite aristocratic on the whole, feeling they are really somebody, but at the same time not wanting to be proud of it. After all, they haven't shown they are worth it yet. They are very courteous to others and like to be treated with the same respect themselves. They are easily offended, especially by dubious or rude remarks and gossip. Their sense of superiority is also expressed in the desire to be able to have a wide view. They like wide open spaces.

Candidate for the managerial post

They usually start taking the lead at a young age. They are not afraid of hard work and know how to handle their own insecurities and possible short comings. They always find a solution to problems they meet on the way. This ability helps them to pick up any job that is going and to make a success of it too. It isn't long before the upper ranks notice these bright young people and offer them promotion. And so they manage to climb the social ladder in a very short time.

Hidden religiosity

They are usually very religious, but once again this is a feeling they find deep within themselves. It in the challenges they meet on their path that they find the essence of life. When they are able to prove themselves they feel at one with God and the whole world, like a mountain climber who reaches the top and has an ecstatic religious experience.

Sex is a challenge

They like to prove themselves sexually, but they prefer to keep this hidden from the outside world. It is their own experience and doesn't concern anyone else.

DD: Gold series, Stage 6.

DD Tantalum: still tries to postpone his task as director, because he feels he hasn't prepared himself well enough yet. He hasn't worked out his plans sufficiently to see how to proceed with the organisation. Tungstenium feels there is no reason to delay any longer, he has burnt his ships behind him and he has to act immediately.

Case

This is the case of a 30 year old woman who has come complaining of migraines. The attacks start with frequent urination and occasional diarrhoea. She sees little black threads before her eyes and flashes of light in all colours, purple, pink and blue.

She also gets trouble in the right side of her body, her arm leg and particularly her hand feel stiff and swollen. They feel as if paralysed, as if they don't belong to her. Her face gets the same sensations. The right half of her face is swollen, stiff, numb and tingling. It stops her from speaking, she can't pronounce the words properly anymore. At these times she cannot bear to be touched. All these symptoms are awful and she is very relieved when they go away and she gets a bad headache instead. This headache is stitching, pressing and dull, above her right eye, as if it is being squeezed tight. It feels as if the pain comes from her neck and back. The pain is also situated in her jaws, the eyeballs, temples and occiput.

It is (<) sunlight, (>) sunglasses, = noise, (<) storm, (<) before menses. Before an attack she usually gets a strong craving for sweets. She prefers carrying on with her work. Movement makes it bearable, but when she goes to lie down in the evening it gets much worse. Carrying on with her work can also postpone the headache but it will reappear even worse later on. The migraines started when she was 12, shortly before her first menses. After these severe attacks she often has an other sort of headache for days, a constant nagging sensation, like a faint replica of the violent attacks. Until she was 12 she often got bad ear and throat infections. She often had her eardrums punctured. When there is much pressure at work it affects her headaches. She is a busy type of woman who often takes on more than she can manage. She always thinks: if others can do it, so can I and she was given a managerial post when she was only 21. Because she was so young, and because she was a woman, she had to work hard to prove herself. At first she occasionally asked for advice from an older colleague, but after she had been given some rather curt replies once or twice she decided she wouldn't bother in the future. She has a full time job, but it is really more than one person can manage. She feels she can't say show that it is a bit too much, so she works extra hard to stay on top. She likes to have things perfect, so that others can't find fault with her. Her director is very dominant and everybody listens to what he says. He is the sort of person who likes to have something to complain about, so she is never sure whether the work she has produced will be to his liking. She is afraid he will say she hasn't thought it through properly. Besides all this she also has a family to run. She has one child and is expecting a second. She doesn't want her children to suffer because of her job. She likes challenges, but she also has fears that she wont succeed. She was brought up with the motto that you should do things properly and not make a fuss. Her father was a very warmhearted and happy man who was keen on equality for men and women. She is a very cheerful and optimistic person herself, she laughs a lot during the consultation. She doesn't talk about her personal problems with others, nobody knows anything about her headaches. But as far as her opinions are concerned she is happy to discuss them with others. She speaks openly about her work and what she thinks about it. It doesn't matter to her who is present when she offers her opinion, even if it is the highest boss, because work is work. She has a repeating dream that she has to get into a high building, but she should use the most difficult route. She has to climb along a dangerous ledge to reach the balcony, which she manages to do after several fearful moments. She often dreams about having to fulfil a difficult task, but she always succeeds. She hates being restricted in her activities through illness or similar circumstances. She has a strong fear of heights. When she was little she didn't dare to cross a bridge even if it was only a foot above the water. She is afraid or rats and cats, because they come towards you even if you don't like them. Generals Weather: cold, hands and feet stiff with cold; (<) storm, (>) outside, (>) sea (2), (<) mountains; (<) ley lines. Perspiration: little. Time: (<) morning, (<) 4 pm. Desires: sweet. Aversion: potatoes (3), milk. Food: (<) warm food, smell of meat (2), orange (3), apple (3), tangerine (3), alcohol, coffee (2), cucumber (3), onion (2), leeks (2), peppers; (<) fasting. Menses: nausea and headache before menses, (<) late menses. Sleep: has to go to bed early because she feels very tired. Physical: (<) touch, (>) motion, working.

Analysis

Her managerial task indicates the Gold series. The fact that she feels she has to prove herself and wants many challenges indicates the sixth stage. Together this means we need Tungstenium in this case.

Other symptoms of the Gold series: independent in her opinions, doesn't like to be restricted, (>) work, (<) rest, (<) cold, fear of heights, (<) restrictions. Symptoms of the sixth stage: feeling she must do things, being squeezed (headache).her repeating dream is also quite typical: she has to (Stage 6) enter a very high building (Gold series), but doesn't this in a very complicated (Stage 6) way, via a ledge along a steep drop (Gold series) to the balcony. Reaction After a few doses of Tungstenium 1M the migraines start to decrease and a few months later she hardly has any headaches. She has started to look at her work from a different perspective. She has changed her job, the tasks are being shared by two people now, here she has managed to hold on to the parts she likes best. She would like to take it easy for a while, she is even contemplating being just a housewife for a while. But his is going a bit far, she doesn't think she can do without the challenge altogether. Case A 5 year old girl has nightmares about fire (Tungstenium). It started after she saw a department store near her house burn to the ground. After Tungstenium 1M the nightmares disappear straight away. Tungstenium proving Procedure This was a two day dream proving carried out on 27-28 November 1993 by the participants of the homoeopathic college in Wageningen. A C30 potency of the remedy was taken once on Friday morning and once on Friday evening at bed time. Fifteen people have given their report, 4 of which described the ongoing effects. Mind - Distanced from my own emotions (Gold series), more sensitive to sexual (Gold series) feelings. Less inclined to talk, introverted, conversation didn't touch me. Less task consciousness about housework but also less aversion to it. - Chilling. Aversion to company and parties. Aversion to loud clothes. - Very irritable towards the children. Don't bother me with your problems, hurry up. - It seemed as if certain incidents didn't touch me. (My friends father was getting more and more ill). But the usual feelings were not there. Dreams - None. - There was a fire (Tungstenium) in the house. It wasn't my own house. First a case with budgies burnt down. I couldn't get to it to save them (Gold series). I woke up at 5 o clock. Then I went back to sleep and continued my dream. Now my 23 year old daughter was also in the room. I couldn't get to her to save her either, I don't know why. It was as if I was watching a film, it was awful. I panicked and in the end all I could see was fire (Tungstenium) and iron bars (Tungstenium). Terrible, frightened, suffocated. Don't want to repeat it. - Woke up too late. - Had the same dream three times: about an accident (challenge, stage 6), a car had turned over and was lying in the street, upside down, with the driver still trapped inside. The first time I was watching it from behind my window and saw the police and ambulance standing around the car. The second time there was only the police and the car. The third time there was only (Gold series) the car. I woke in a fright, realising I was doing a proving. - A friend of mine tells me she has got a boyfriend and shows me a photograph. It is a photo of him and his son, and they look exactly alike, like twins. - A large barn with lots of monkeys locked up inside, white ones and black ones, large ones and little ones. They decide to break out of their prison. The guard is a sluggish man with glasses and is feeling homesick. When he enters the barn the monkeys escape through the door behind his back and run into the woods. The boss (Gold series) is furious and goes to look for them (responsible, Gold series). In the meantime the monkeys have turned into children who try to confuse the boss by making funny noises from behind the bushes and then running away very fast. Because they are young and nimble the boss can't catch them. During this dream I thought that the guard needed Capsicum. - I have to go to a sort of tea sorting firm, together with two friends. We will have to undergo a test. We are a precious metal (Gold series) and two semi precious metals, and the people at the firm are going to investigate how we make love (Gold series). General Energetic. Dull. Tired. Temperature: very chilly. Perspiration: unpleasant odour during the afternoon. Sleep: waking at 5.30 am. Didn't get to sleep until 5 am. Heavy, woke up too late (never happens usually), forgot my dreams. Very deep. Complaints - Pain in temples, worse right side. Headache, central, sore as from flu. - Headache, stitching, pressing, Right side, next to vertex, later on left side in occiput, low down, stitching (2*). - Pain left side, in sinus frontalis (<)(<) cold wind. - Slight nagging pain above left eye. - Eyes swollen (<)(<) waking. - Sneezing. - A cold that lasts three weeks (unusual). First week: a watery discharge, running like a tap, sometimes hardly have time to get a handkerchief. A raw burning feeling in throat, worse right side. Glands in angle of jaw swollen, right side, painful, (<) turning head sideways. A heavy dull feeling in the morning, need a long time to get going, unrefreshing sleep. Second week: runny nose slightly better, coughing worse. A dry tickling cough I can't suppress, sometimes really loud, (<) physical exertion, (<) inhaling cold air, (<) tobacco, (<) lying in bed, (<) talking and laughing, (>) drinking water (briefly). Once lay awake from 2 to 4 O'clock because of cough. Felt desperate and hopeless, embarrassed what my patients might think. Couldn't tolerate contact lenses anymore. Took Drosera 30.

Third week: Slept extremely well after Drosera. Woke up with terrible, bursting headache, frontal, symmetrical, sometimes worse left side. A heavy feeling of pressure. Nasal discharge and cough less. Now it feels like sinusitis, as if their is a lot of mucus in the sinuses. headache (<) stooping. Feeling of heaviness, difficulty thinking. - Coughing up mucus and scraping. - Palpitations, in throat. - At 5.30 pm gradual pain starting in chest far around the third and fourth intercostal space (heart region) (Gold series), pain reaching a maximum at around 6.30 pm. Pain is worst just beside the 4th intercostal, in one spot. Pain was pressing, like a heavy lump, (>) broad, firm pressure, (>) while taking a sip of cold water.

Sensation as if water was running down past a lump (I thought my heart felt like a lump). The sensation of the water trickling down was nice, so I wanted to drink large gulps of cold water frequently. After meals the pain was 95 percent better. So probably (>) after eating, (which is a modality that I recognise, headache (>) eating). Half an hour after eating the pain was still there slightly, mainly near the third intercostal. During the following three weeks I still had the occasional feeling of pressure in the sternum with stitching pains. Drinking warm or cold water felt very nice, it still felt as if it was flowing past a lump. I got the impression that I had had a type of cramp in the oesophagus.

- Nausea (<)(<) cigarettes.

- Nausea.

- Stool at 3.30 pm (never happens usually).

- Pain in left ankle, (<) walking, feeling as if it will give way.
