Lachesis as archetypal snake
It is necessary to use Lachesis as archetypal snake to prescribe other snake remedies.
The two charts of the total of symptoms for all the snake remedies in the Complete Repertory indicate clearly statistical why Lachesis would be over-prescribed and smaller remedies under prescribed.
Figure 1. A comparison of the number of rubrics of the snake remedies in the Mind chapter of The Complete Repertory
Figure 2. A comparison of the number of rubrics of the snake remedies in all of The Complete Repertory
The two charts illustrate how difficult it is to prescribe any other snake remedy than Lachesis, this even more so if one takes mental symptoms into account. Polycrests, like Lachesis, become victims of their own success.
Because Lachesis has so many more symptoms by comparison to other snake remedies it will always swamp other snake remedies and this is why the others are not often prescribed and so on and so on. The strategy that I use in such cases is to use Lachesis as archetypal snake, so that if Lachesis seems to come up then I look at all the other snakes too.
So in a case with two characteristic symptoms of Cenchris and twelve of Lachesis I prefer to give Cenchris first; Massimo Mangialavori also uses this approach.
Massimo Mangialavori in an interview in Homoeopathic Links Vol. 9, No. 4, 1996 said:
When I have not so severe case and I have the choice between a polycrest and a remedy that I do not know at all I prefer to give the second.

Crotalus horridus is used for bleeding from the lungs and nose which can occur in racehorses during a race; by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
English homoeopaths recommended Crotalus horridus to their patients during WW2 for them to carry as a first aid remedy for multiple haemorrhages from flying glass as a result of exploding bombs in English cities.
